Study in the US

  • If you are planning to study in the US, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Choose a major that interests you.
    2. Choose the U.S. state in which you would like to live: A list of U.S. Universities categorized by State
    3. Search for a suitable school and find out about its admission
    4. Make sure the school satisfies your interest and your budget.
    5. Make sure the school is accredited by NEASC (CIHE), MSA (CHE), NCA (HLC), SACS (COC), NWCCU, or WASC (ACCJC-ACSCU) by visiting the CHEA Database
    6. Check if the school requires examinations for undergraduate and graduate students such as TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, SAT, ACT, etc.
    7. Apply online or download applications for admission to the school you have chosen. We recommend applying to more than one program to improve your chances of acceptance.
    8. Prepare a financial affidavit providing the estimated tuition at the school of your choice.
    9. Apply for an I-20. See pay SEVIS fee.
    10. After receiving your acceptance letter, I-20, and SEVIS receipt, you need to apply for an F-1 visa. Instructions at http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html .

  • Requirements For An I- 20
    •  Undergraduate
      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • TOEFL ( Unless applying for ESL programs)
      • I-20 request form
      • Application for admission
      • Completed financial affidavit
      • A photocopy of your passport
      • A short letter (explaining why the student wants to study at a certain university and what will he or she do after completion of the studies)
    • Graduate
      • An official transcript from last institute attended
      • GRE  or other graduate testing required by the program being admitted
      • I-20 request form
      • Statement of purpose
      • Application for admission
      • A photocopy of your passport
      • Completed financial affidavit
